BRIEF

MC Grammar is a rapper who loves to learn and wonder about the world around him. These are rap music videos with totally unforgettable tunes will get the entire family watching, singing and dancing.

When Sky commissioned Wonder Raps, for their new service Sky Kids, it was up to me and a team of 3 to create all the Illustration, animation and VFX for 10 episodes in as many weeks. Now that's a tall order.

10 EPISODES, 10 ART STYLES

Each song MC Grammar created for the series had a different style musically and therefore a unique identity, and it was my job to make sure the visuals married well with each song.

In some videos we leaned into a traditional 2D hand-drawn look, unlike the "Romans" video, in which we decided on a 3D composite with photographic collage to give a real gritty look to the colosseum.

We were inspired by a vaporwave aesthetic for the video entitled "Speed", and in "Pirates" I had a lot of fun with pen and ink to mimic a Scrimshawed technique.
